Maxfields was a historic restoration project initiated by the Hazen family upon the acquisition of the building following a large fire on-site in the early 1980s. The project revitalized and re-imagined the historic sandstone building from 1888 built by the prominent business man William H. Cox. The building lived many lives over the last 140 years including two large scale department stores Lewis and Co. and Duffy's.
